Opening ceremony is officially scheduled to be on 17th August 2007.
India is among one of the 50 confirmed countries.

With 8 days to the World Junior and Senior Roller Speed Championship in Cali, the event already has historic numbers in its assistance. The participation of 50 countries of the 5 continents and of 400 accredited journalists from 20 nations and the live broadcasting of the event through 9 different channels, put this year's tournament in Cali in an important place in the history of roller skating.

With the inscription of Honduras, India and Ukraine, the number of participating countries is now 50 with a total of 700 people that are athletes, coaches and managers, scientific support or delegates. This people are going to getter in the capital of El Valle between the 17th and the 25th of August. This great participation is now a record surpassing the participation of 48 countries that attend the event in Anyang South Korea in 2006.

The 50 countries are 18 from America, 17 from Europe, 9 from Asia, 4 from Africa and 2 from Oceania. In addition the organization is waiting that Japan and other three European nations confirm their participation and make part of this select group of countries.

Colombia, the quality of the skating of this home country, the passion for this sport and the facilities for the work of the international media has made this Championship very attractive for the international community. The appealing of the event for the media is shown by the registration of 400 radio, press, web and television journalists from 20 different countries that are going to be broadcasting the event. This media presence also sets a record in the history of the Skating World Championships.

The Colombian government shows the support to this event and to the skaters by ordering to the 9 regional channels to broadcast in live the 38 hours and 9 days of the event that are going to be recorder by the Telepacifico network. This transmission is going to be available worldwide. In addition to Telelpacifico official radio station RCN radio and the official newspaper El Pais from Cali are going to cover this event.

The World Championship hasn't start but the stars and records are arriving. Cali 2007 is going to make a great contribution to the history of the world skating.

With 8 days to the start of the Speed Skating Junior and Senior World Championship, the teams from Australia, Belgium, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala and New Zealand are in Cali. These teams have tried out the new skating rink last Sunday night. The official training schedule is going to be assign next Wednesday august the 8th.

The Dobbin brothers - Kalon and Shane- and Nicoleg Begg, the world champions from New Zealand, and Catherine Peñan from Chile -golden medalist in last year's championship- among others are a few stars that make part of this first group of athletes presents in Cali, this is just a small group from the 50 countries that have already confirm their assistance to the maximum world speed skating event, that is going to take place between the 17th and the 25th of August. In representation of Central America are now in Cali Joan Mariana Estrada y Ligia Arana, whom together with their tem members are coached by the Colombian Javier Botero.

Some of the integrants of the selection of New Zealand have been in Cali for a couple of days, and now, with the complete team are ready to roll in the skating rink. The need of the teams for their practice time is going to be solved this Wednesday when 167 hours of practice are going to be programmed.

The world organization, has said that the practice program couldn't be set before because the construction works in the skating rink weren't finish and the mayoralty didn't give the permits for the use of the tracks and of the installations of the skating rink until now.

During the next few days the arrival of the teams from France, EEUU, Italy and Korea is expected, these selections together with the Colombian are call to be figures in this World Championship.
