In 2001 Master Subodh Patil won a silver medal and two Bronze medal at open continental Championships held in Pretoria, South Africa. In the same year Miss Manasi Patil won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and stood overall second in her group at 6 dias open international championships held in Serpa, Portugal.
Mr. Monish Lokhandwala has a silver medal to his credit at Asian Championships in 2002. Indian team has gained second position in relay at the Asian championships in 2002. Master Poojan Patel won at open International Championships in Ostend Belgium in 2002. It is a matter of time that India will make a mark at World Championships.

In the recently held National Championships in India, speed was the synonym for Subodh Patil, who captured the hearts of all by winning two gold medals in 1000 mts and 10000mts point to point race where he had a very tough fight and was declared the winner by difference of just 2 points.
Subodh Balwant Patil is a Roller Skater from Kolhapur, India. His skating career started in 1990, when he was 6 years old.
His father got him skates, so that he would not waste his time in street games. Then he took training at Kolhapur.
He got his first national medal at Noida; he got several medals in and out of Kolhapur. His father got him to Pune city in 1995, where he started taking training with Pushkar Kulkarni of Team Extreme.
Since than he has won several championships. He got a bronze medal at Patiala in 1996, and a silver medal at School games Nationals at Moga in 1999. He also won 4 gold medals and individual Speed championship award at state championships in Aurangabad. In the same year he participated in open internationals in Pretoria, South Africa. There he was awarded a silver medal and 2 bronze medals. This was a turning point in his career. In the same year he represented India at world championships in Valence De’ Agen, France. He was overall ranked 26th in junior group. Same year, he represented INDIA at Asian Championships at Taitung, Taiwan and performed his best and stood 4th.
Now he is the top skater of India, he was declared Individual Speed Champion at Vaizak in 2001. Subodh was a team member of Indian Contingent at world championships at Ostend, Belgium in 2002. This time he competed with some of the world-class players, and his idol Chad, who has 50 gold medals to his credit at world Championships, and Renaldo, who was junior group gold medallist at world championships.
He secured 9th Position at Open International Championship in Ostend 2002. It was really tough to reach this position says Subodh. For this he gives all the credit to

He has to practice for 4 hours daily in morning and evening. He gets full support from his family; he especially gives credit for his success to his mother. He also mentions his brother Vijay, who is all the time there to help him.
Being a very fast growing game he has to keep abreast with the latest techniques in the sport, for this he likes surfing the net and watching various video cassettes.
He also has discussions with his friends Aabas and all to improve his sport. He is a self-determined skater who believes in himself and his well-wishers. He is now settled in Hyderabad in Andhra- Pradesh State where is supported by the state government in all the ways, Subodh says. He is not just skating but also is studying in 12th Arts, faculty.
He has set a goal for himself of becoming a professional skater and play for professional teams in Europe and US. He is currently the team leader of Team Verducci India.
Injuries are integral part of any sport, but this has never let him down. At Ostend World Championships, he competed in 42 K marathon with a fractured hand and secured 70th position leaving behind many champion skaters.
He likes to chill out with his college friends, when he is not skating. Determination, Hard work and positive attitude are all the ingredients for being a champion skater, for Subodh.
